Is it happening in 2025?

So you want to know if there will be a Kākācon 7 in 2025? Yes the eight installment of Kākācon will be happening on Thursday 6 November 2024 at 13:45. It will be great to see you all there. This is the Kawaiicon Training Day.

Kākācon will be running the same as in previous years, at Zealandia. It is a fun opportunity to see some of your favourite birds from Aotearoa, have a lovely bush, alongside some great hacker friends. You can have your great hallwaycon conversations without the distractions that are common in bars and similar places.

Details

How long does it run for?

Depending on how fast we walk and how much time we spend looking at things along the way, the route normally takes about 90-120 minutes.

Tracks

At the start there is a sealed road, but the majority of the time will be on dirt and gravel tracks. If there has been rain it can be muddy, so wear appropriate shoes for the most enjoyable experience.

  1. Lake Road
  2. Pontoon
  3. Takahē Lawn
  4. Te Māhanga Track
  5. Beech Track
  6. Suspension Bridge
  7. Along the top of the Upper Dam
  8. Up to the Discovery Area and Tower
  9. Down the Swamp Track
  10. Upper Kākā Feeders
  11. Back down Lake Road
  12. Past the Kākā Feeders and Tūī Terrace
  13. Past the Tuatara area
  14. Back to the visitors centre along Lake Road

Cost

The only cost is the entry to Zealandia, so if you have a Zealandia membership you can get in free and people with membership can get in like five people at half price or something.

CFP Open When?

There is no scheduled talks at Kākācon, so there is no need for a CFP.
